MY husband and I are moving into a house full of cat dander and he is allergic. How do i get it clean enough ?

I know the old owner and he used to have 2 cats live inside when he finally kicked them outside, one snuck back in and had babies in one of the main rooms. Bacially my husband cant be in there for more the 30 min.MY husband and I are moving into a house full of cat dander and he is allergic. How do i get it clean enough ?
They discovered about 8 years ago now that distilled water can be used to wipe down the walls from knee height to the floor, the area where most of the cat dander adheres, and that can reduce the allergens in the place considerably.

Get the carpet steam cleaned. If the apartment comes furnished, do a wipe down with a sponge and the distilled water there as well.

A Hepa filter wouldn't hurt either, that can clean the air really well.MY husband and I are moving into a house full of cat dander and he is allergic. How do i get it clean enough ?
In my experience with my boyfriend's allergies, it is best to avoid any soft materials in your home. Carpets, curtains, area rugs, fabric covered furniture, etc. holds more dander and it is difficult to get it all out.

Homes with hardwood/tile floors, blinds, etc. are much easier to keep clean and free of dander and dust mites.
Bagless vacs are the best at getting rid of animal hairs! You can also invest in an Ionic Breeze. Since he has allergies, that should help even after all the dander is gone.
It will require top to bottom cleaning. Unfortunately, unless you are experienced, you will probably have to call in the pros. You will need to have the walls, carpets and air ducts all cleaned out.
If there are any carpets, drapes, or other fabric in the house from the previous owner, either change it or have it professionally cleaned.
Either buy a brand new Oreck vacuum ($1,000) or hire a professional cleaning team to come in and do it for you ($300). Your choice.
I am severely allergic to cats, so I sympathize with your husband! He's a good man to move into a house that he knows is full of cat dander!!!

I would suck it up and pay the money to have the house professionally cleaned - contact a company like ServPro and explain to them what you want done - I'm sure that they have done this type of thing many, many times before.

It would be well worth the money to know that it's been done right and that I didn't have to be the one to do it!!!

Good luck on getting all of the dander and hair out!
have the carpet cleaned
Get him some Claritin. Have the carpets shampooed or do it your self. Wash the floors and walls. That should do it.
i know how he feels, im allergic too, just make sure you clean everyting very good, clean the carpen, curtains, sweep base boards, and dust really good, clean everything possible that he is around, then use febreese. every few hours for a while
Wash the walls with a wet broom and floor cleaner, sweep the ceiling (cat hair sticks there) have the rug washed proffesionally, buy a commercial vacumm (about $49 at home depot, the wet-dry canister type) and go through each single nook and crany! Move forward the appliances and vacumm the back, the filters, and when everything is done buy an air cleaner with a hepa filter and make sure he gets some allergy medicine for his doctors.

Good luck!
Have it professionally shampooed!
