My husband has been diagnosed with ptsd after serving in iraq. Is honorable or medical discharge better?

What is the best way to advocate for my husbands best welfare. He is abusing drugs and alcohol, has been arrested for domestic violence, and running his car into an apartment building and fleeing. We are separated and have two small children 2 and 3. He needs help, and the army is doing nothing regarding mental health services. My husband has been diagnosed with ptsd after serving in iraq. Is honorable or medical discharge better?
Sounds like he has ';Acute PTSD'; and all of

what he has done can be attributed to that...

They can still give him an Honorable Medical Discharge...

Which is By far the better way to go...

He also needs to be in a Hospital receiving

PTSD Treatment...

Under UCMJ it is unlawful for them to

give him anything but the above type

discharge...

If the Army/Marines are not seeing to his Medical

health and safety...maybe its time to call a

Congressperson...heads will roll.

I hate Officers and SNCO's...

Most of which have NO Combat Time.

Is that there are others giving you answers

that are talking out their a**ses...and have no

idea of what PTSD...entails.

If you were not in Combat please refrain

from answering as you don't have a clue.

he's still in? he needs to push for the medical asap. as mentioned above the honorable is off the table.

as soon as he's out he needs to hook up with VA and get into counseling. PTSD is not going to go away soon if ever. but you can learn to live with it... sorta. i have.
';He is abusing drugs and alcohol, has been arrested for domestic violence, and running his car into an apartment building and fleeing'; - He is not getting an honorable after all of that. Get the medical asap.
At this point he cannot get an honorable discharge. There are too many people with PTSD themselves serving on active duty for him to get out of taking responsibility for his actions.

And if he has PTSD then the Army has made resources available to him. It sounds like the issue here is that he is not using those resources.

It sounds to me like he is trying to use PTSD as an excuse for his behavior.
